Strayer University is committed to helping students reach their career goals. There are a wide range of services and resources that have been carefully selected to assist students in preparing for future professional positions. The university makes these career resources available to students throughout their academic journeys. The intent is to actively engage students in the career development process; participation in the career activities and/or completion of any Strayer University program does not guarantee a student will find employment after graduation.
Career resources and services are detailed to students and alumni on the University Career Center website on the iCampus portal. These include:
On-line Career Resources
- Optimal Resume Career & Talent Suite: A career management system that contains an online job board as well as custom career software for building resumes, cover letters, and portfolios. An added feature is an interactive interviewing module allowing students to conduct and/or record mock interviews.
- CareerSpots: A career library with over 600 videos that provide relevant career advice and information from leading experts in the field.
- Candid Career: This unique portal provides information interviews of professionals in all types of jobs and industries. In addition to the video interviews of Strayer Alumni, students have access to hundreds of other video interviews which can be filtered by industry, job title, company, college major, etc.
- Resume Reviews: Students have the option to seek an individual resume review.
- LinkedIn: This professional networking portal has over 400 million world-wide members. Links to introductory and expert training videos on LinkedIn are provided on the career website. In addition, students are encouraged to use the Strayer University LinkedIn Alumni Tool which is a searchable online directory of over 85,000 Strayer alumni and students.
- LyndaCampus: Recognized for its excellent digital skill building videos, LyndaCampus offers students step-by-step help in building their digital identity.
Campus-based Career Resources
Additional resources are located at each Strayer University Campus in the Learning Resources Center (LRC). Within the LRC, there is a dedicated Career Resources Area which includes books, periodicals, and local job listings. The Learning Resources Center Staff is available to provide career assistance to students and alumni.
A centralized Career Services team provides resources and training to the LRC Staff for their part in delivering career services and managing the recruitment needs of local employers.
