NUR 531 Health Care Finance

Explores the theory, tools, and practical applications of health care financial management. Examines payment sources and reimbursement programs; financing derived from public and private sources, and discusses emerging policies and trends within health care delivery that affect budgeting and financial decision-making. Learners explore capital and debt financing, capital structure, financial planning, operating revenue, working capital, resource allocation and financial analysis of the industry. Learners explore the implications of healthcare finance on the quality and safety of healthcare delivery and nurse leaders’ approaches to budgeting, resource allocation, and cost containment. Learners will analyze the financial structure of a healthcare organization. Learners will have the opportunity to apply this knowledge in a practice setting.
