NUR 501 Theoretical Foundations, Research, and Evidence-Informed Nursing Practice
Prepares students to analyze, evaluate, and apply nursing and other theories. Examines relevant theories in various sciences with a nursing practice lens. Expands learners’ understanding of the theoretical foundations of nursing research, and their applications to clinical research and evidence-based practice. Learners explore the research process, consider various types of research questions, study designs, and types of data, and discuss how research is translated to enhance nursing practice. Learners develop their ability to critically evaluate evidence, its strengths, and its applicability to clinical practice, using statistical methods. Learners also explore how data, including from electronic information systems, can help to answer important nursing and healthcare-related research questions.
