NUR 535 Nursing Leadership and Management Practicum

Prerequisite

All Area I & II courses; May take one 530 level Area II course as co-requisite

Offers a culminating experience that enables learners to apply competencies achieved throughout the course of study and to synthesize the role of the nurse leader. Learners analyze the expansion of his or her nursing knowledge and expanded leadership and management competencies. Learners will develop a personal leadership philosophy in alignment with the AACN Essentials of Masters Education (2011) and will select a project that demonstrates competence in one or more of the American Organization for Nurse Executives (AONE) Competencies. Students will engage with a preceptor to analyze the preceptor’s leadership role, develop and implement a project related to nursing leadership, and report the results. Students will finalize and present an electronic portfolio that demonstrates application of the Masters Essentials and the AONE Competencies.
